Collins' frontman talents lay dormant for many years as the
drummer of prog-rockers Genesis, since they already had a supreme
singer in Peter Gabriel. When Gabriel quit, Collins stepped out
from behind the drums and made Genesis a hit-making machine. Not
suprisingly, Collins also launched an even more successful solo
career as a pop singer, which he kept going in conjunction with
Genesis until he became a full-time solo artist in the late 1990s. |
