Harry Chapin Biography:
Harry Chapin was one of the most beloved songwriters of the
1970s. He also became a well-known and enthusiastic activist,
dedicating much of his time to social and political causes.
Chapin left behind a cherished catalog of work after his death
in 1981. Born in 1942 and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Chapin was
active in music activities in high school, but decided to
pursue a career as a documentary filmmaker once in college.
Despite earning an Oscar nomination for directing Legendary
